about

Exposed to music before she was born, VÆRNA began playing piano at age 4. She began formal studies in grade school on both clarinet and piano, and also had ballet training for many years. She stuck with piano and had her first composition published at age 10. She was exposed to electronic music at age 14 and began teaching herself guitar in high school and had further training by other musicians in college. She stopped formal training in piano about that time and began experimenting with synthesizers while studying for a job in commercial art that utilized her artistic talents as she was making money from freelance art projects. That is when she got hit hard with ambient music, as she played it while doing art projects for college. She played in bands during her early twenties before finally getting a day job in printing. She has never forgotten the music and art she composed in those days; everything she learned the hard way back then, she applies to the technology available today.

The name VÆRNA is her D&D character name from college that somehow stuck, and became her artist moniker and trademark. You can find her on the usual popular sites and under the Asnazzy label on iTunes and Spotify. soundcloud.com/vaerna
